Exploring the Benefits of BHRT: Optimizing Health and Quality of Life

10 Jul, 2023 | Return|

I look forward to meeting you to talk about bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) with topical creams or hormone pellet therapy. I started using topical estrogen and progesterone in my early 50s and graduated to Testosterone/Estrogen pellet therapy with oral Progesterone in my early 60s. Pellet therapy works for me. It is convenient and provides a more consistent cellular level of hormone, I am confident that both methods of BHRT will optimize your health.

BHRT is an amazing way to reduce the rate of aging as studies show that pellets provide the most consistent hormone levels. Our body relies on these hormone messaging molecules to fine tune our metabolism for a more youthful state of being.

BHRT includes Estrogen, Testosterone and Progesterone. Estrogen and Testosterone are critical for overall wellbeing as they improve immunity, bone strength, muscle mass, sleep, libido and a host of other important aspects of health. Progesterone balances the growth inducing effects of Estrogen and Testosterone.

BHRT has been scientifically shown to reduce the risk of cancer and hear disease

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) has been scientifically shown to reduce the risk of cancer and heart disease if it is started before the initiation of these problems. If a cancer is already present but too small to be recognized before starting hormones, the estrogen may feed it and promote it’s growth. Pap smears and mammograms screen for cancer to reduce our risk. Progesterone is important to balance the growth promoting effects of estrogen.

A statement on the website for the American Academy of Anti-Aging:

HRT: The Clinical Benefits and Breast Cancer Link

Latest guidelines and research show that proper hormone therapy is safe for menopausal women and can improve mood, cognition, energy level and immune function. Older studies showing a correlation between estrogen replacement and breast cancer were flawed – there is more recent and reliable information demonstrating the safety and efficacy of estrogen replacement. The optimal time to begin estrogen replacement is within ten years of the onset of menopause.

To provide the most safe and reliable anti-aging hormone treatments in our 60s, 70s and possibly ongoing, IMI relies on a hormone blood test one month after pellet placement. After the second or third pellet we gradually reduce the frequency of blood tests down to after every other pellet when levels are stable. We recommend pap smears and mammograms every 3 years to screen for any abnormal growth that could turn into a cancer. The most common causes of cancer are toxic burden, infections, hormone imbalance and genetic predisposition. Academy of Anti-Aging states that all illness is 20% genetic and 80% environmental. We can't change our genetics but we can adopt a healthy lifestyle to reduce our risks.

Our IMI Team looks forward to helping you reach your optimal quality of life.

Best in Health,

Dr. Mary
